Yusen, Sandy

10/30/2015 – Sandy Yusen joined Champlain as the External Relations and Communications Director, reporting directly to Katie Hawley, VP for Strategic Communications.

Sandy will be working to elevate the Champlain brand by increasing and broadening external visibility of the College’s attributes and initiatives and by strengthening positive external community relationships.  This includes serving as the College’s main point of contact for neighbor relations and coordinating the College’s representation at city and state meetings.  Additionally, Sandy will be responsible for creating content, tools, and programs to meet the needs of external audiences.

Sandy comes to Champlain with significant communications experience. Most recently, she served as Director of Corporate Communications & Community Relations for Keurig Green Mountain. Additionally, Sandy has professional experience as the Marketing Manager for Spruce Peak Realty (Stowe Mountain Resort) and as the Director of Global Public Relations for Burton Snowboards.   Sandy earned her BA from Dartmouth College and her MS in Corporate Public Relations from Boston University.

pratt, carrie11.9.2015 – Carrie Pratt joins us as our new EHS Career Advisor from UVM, where she served in Admissions. She is passionate about working in higher education and at Champlain College. Her extensive experience in creating relationships with students, staff, and the community, along with her passion for serving and advocating for student development, was a key determinant for us to welcome her to our Champlain community and role in Career Services. Her role within EHS will entail interacting with faculty, readying its students and facilitating employment opportunities within the EHS fields. This also means that Heidi Wrighton, previous EHS Career Advisory, will formally move into her new role as the CPS/Grad student Career Advisor. Exciting times!

11.20.2015 – Elizabeth Donahue joins the ODI staff at the Special Projects Coordinator to help plan and execute their events on campus. She will also act as a support person for our CARE students to help them thrive academically, emotionally, and socially during their first year at Champlain College. Donahue is a licensed independent clinical social worker, having received her masters from Smith College in Northampton, MA and her bachelors from Skidmore College in Saratoga Spring, NY. She is also a licensed therapist and has spent many years in various educator roles from working as a middle school Spanish teacher to being a group leader for backpacking trips.

11.30.2015 – Stefan Faville joins the Marketing Department as the Assistant Content Producer.  As an undergraduate, Faville worked with the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation as a Web-Marketing Intern and also in the University of Vermont Career Center in the role of IT/Creative Assistant. After graduating, he spent a year volunteering on small organic farms across the country through a program called WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). Stefan has applied his web and marketing skills while working at EatingWell magazine, and also as a freelance web producer in the Burlington, VT area. He is excited about continuing to grow professionally and to be working as part of the best team at Champlain. Faville graduated from UVM with a BS in Public Communications.

Faville is charged with producing updated and fresh content for marketing purposes. He is responsible for the maintenance of faculty listings to ensure they are appropriately updated with the start of each semester, included making sure all credentials and education listing display appropriately for NEASC and working with faculty to ensure all faculty bios have been created and updated.  Faville will be creating fresh content for the website including working on student profiles (includes all coordination of interviews, photography, video, writing and editing); creating new sections; working with community members to develop new content, pages, etc. Faville will also be working to manage the homepage, and the components of the Audience pages (such as the Faculty/Staff portal page). Additionally, the College sends out many emails to various audiences for various purposes. Many of these are generated through the Marketing Department. Faville will primarily manage emails to Undergraduate Prospects and emails needed to promote specific special programs or speakers from residential or low-residency Graduate Studies programs.

1Grace-Curley-photo2.14.2015 – Grace Curley joins the Enrollment Operations team as the Sr. Operations and Enrollment Coordinator reporting to Ginger Pressey.  Curley brings more than four years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, Customer Service Representative, Marketing and Graphic Design Intern and Sales Associate.  Curley holds a BA in English from Hampshire College.

During the fall and winter, Curley will work with the Enrollment Operations team to process incoming paperwork pertaining to applicant files. She will be responsible for training and managing student office workers and will provide back up for phones, admissions email and scheduling appointments/campus visits as needed.  During the spring and summer, Curley will work with the Enrollment Service Center to triage questions regarding Student Accounts, Financial Aid and the Registrar’s Office, including counseling families and students on process regarding financial aid and student accounts.
