New Employees in May

05.01.2017 – Mark Therrien joins the Physical Plant team as a Maintenance Technician. In this role, he will be responsible for general building maintenance, completing work orders as assigned, and overseeing contract laborers. Mark has previously worked at New England Air, the ECHO Center, and the UVM Medical Center and has received professional HVAC training.

05.14.5017 – Emily Fenuccio joins the Continuing Professional Studies team as the Admissions Outreach Coordinator. She will be responsible for admissions webinars, meeting with traditional to CPS prospective students, admission and transfer fairs, and other admissions outreach and events. Emily is a native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, but came to Vermont to attend UVM, from which she graduated in 2015. She moved to Vermont permanently in January 2016 upon starting a job in the Financial Aid office at the Community College of Vermont in Winooski. Now, she joins Champlain!

05.15.2017 – Stephanie Kloss joins the Marketing and Enrollment Management team as the Director of Creative Services. In this role, she will oversee Marketing’s talented team of writers, designers, and videographers. Stephanie will also steward the evolution of the College’s visual brand and guide the brand voice. She brings with her over 15 years of marketing, design, communication, sales, project┬ámanagement, fundraising, and strategic leadership experience – primarily in book publishing. Stephanie spend the majority of her career working at Knopf, one of the most respected brands in global trade book publishing, and supported the launch of best-selling books like Sheryl Sandberg’s Option B and Lead In, Cheryl Strayed’s Wild, Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Bill Clinton’s My Life. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Queens University in Ontario, Canada.

05.31.2017 – Dr. Angela Batista joins the President’s Cabinet as Special Adviser to the President for Diversity and Inclusion. In this role, she will advise the President on the structures, processes, and resources necessary to more fully realize the diversity and inclusion goals and aspirations outlined in the College’s 2020 Strategic Plan. Angela possesses the experience and insight needed to help Champlain increase a sense of inclusion at the College due to her several roles serving in similar capacities. Angela was previously Champlain’s inaugural Diversity and Inclusion senior director from 2007-2010, and is currently serving as Interim Chief Diversity Officer at Oregon State University, where she also served as Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Student Life since 2015. Angela earned her Ed.D. in Leadership from Nova Scotia Southeastern University and her master’s degree from the University of Vermont. Her undergraduate work was completed at Brooklyn College in New York City. Angela looks forward to her return to Vermont and to the Champlain community.
